We are more together than alone.

~ The Chinese mythic bird Jian is said to have only one eye and one wing, destined to find another Jian so they can see and fly. It represents a spiritual community. As humans, we all drift off our paths. My intention is to be the other eye and wing so you can soar on your journey of self-discovery, growth, and freedom ~

About

Meet Hiroko Hirata

[ ENGLISH ] (Scroll down for Japanese/日本語は下にスクロールされるとご覧いただけます。) I’m bilingual in Japanese and English and bring a multicultural lens to my work with clients from diverse backgrounds. I work with both individuals and couples who come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or caught in patterns they don’t fully understand. I am trained in the following therapeutic approaches and integrate them into my work: Somatic Experiencing, Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, Gestalt Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, and the Gottman Method. I work with individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, trauma, burnout, grief, life transitions, anxiety, and depression. Therapy is a process of building emotional, mental, and physiological safety; exploring how your experiences have shaped the way you relate to yourself, others, and the world; processing unresolved emotions; and moving toward becoming more whole. Life includes both surviving and thriving, but living in survival mode can leave little space for joy, playfulness, and experiencing the fullness of life. Our emotional pain and wounds from the past can either keep us stuck—or become a doorway to growth and healing. I welcome you to begin this journey toward growth, healing, and a deeper sense of wholeness. ~ EDUCATION & LICENSE ~ • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado • M.A. Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Regis University in Denver, CO • Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Residency, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO • MDiv, Naropa University in Boulder, CO • CPE Internship, Boulder Community Health in Boulder, CO • B.A. Interdisciplinary Humanities, Michigan State University ~ THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE ~ She has been trained in the following theories/techniques and integrates them in her sessions: • Somatic Counseling • Internal Family System (IFS) • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) • Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) • Gestalt Therapy • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) ~ FEES & INSURANCE ~ [ Currently Accepting New Clients ] Individual Counseling: $150/50-minute session. Testimonials

“Within my own clinical career, spanning over 50 years, I have supervised many clinical psychology interns and postdoctoral fellows. Hiroko would clearly stand among the best of these. ~Alfred Kaszniak, Ph.D. Professor Emeritus, University of Arizona”

“I unequivocally recommend Hiroko as your counselor. She is a therapist at heart, without trying to be one. She sees us. She encourages us to seek who we are and who we could become, leading us on the important journey of going inward so we could go outward. ”

Maureen Ackerman~Author of "This Going, This Grace"

“Hiroko is one of the most skilled practioners that I have ever encountered when it comes to creating safe spaces for patients to explore not only matters of spirituality, but personal and deeply held fears, insecurities, and vulnerabilities.”
